Mangaluru: If you happen to visit the Dakke {Fish Dock} to get a bargain price on fish, or visit the Fish, Fruits, Vegetable and Meat markets today, 23 April 2018, you are out of luck-since all these places are closed for a day, to protest against against the masters who raped the three innocent children, Kathua, Unnao and Surat. Protesting with the Message ‘Hang The Rapists’, Dakke {Fish Dock} /Fruit/Vegetable/Fish/Meat Markets have decided to close in City, to condemn the incidents of rape and other crimes against women happening in the Nation, especially the rape and murder of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir,Unnao in Uttar Pradesh and Surat in Gujarath cases, and also including the murder of Sowjanya, a II PU student who was found dead in Ujire near Dharmasthala on October 10, 2012. A mega protest is planned this morning {23 April, 2018} at 10 am in front of the DC’s Office.

The call given by the Fish Merchants Association; Wholesale Vegetable and Fruits Dealers Association; Scrap and Metal Dealers Association; Muslim Auto-Rickshaw Drivers Association; Meat Dealers Association; among many others have proven successful, with no trade or business shops open this morning. The Dakke and Market Road usually buzzing with crowded activity has worn a deserted look this morning, with no trucks nor loaders/unloaders showing up. After a sea of youth, adults, social activists, priests/nuns, religious leaders and other concerned citizens gathered near DC’s office here on April 16; followed by the members of Congress Minority Wing of Coastal Zone and DCC, who had held a candlelight vigil in the Park, opposite to Town Hall, Mangaluru on 18 April evening, now its the turn of all these Associations to send a strong message of “Enough is Enough”, to stop the rapes that are happening in the Nation, and also to pressurize the politicians to take strict against these rapists.

Saleem Ustad, a member of Fruits and Vegetable Dealers Association speaking to Team Mangalorean said, ” Since coordinated and convergent efforts are needed to ensure survival, protection and empowerment of the girl child, Narendra Modi’s Government had announced Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. That was a good move by our PM, but when it has come to all the rapes and murders that have been taking place in the BJP run states, the PM has remained numb. With a message and to bring awareness about the ongoing rape incidents that are taking place under the present government, we all have joined together to raise our voices, to bring a change in the society. It’s sad to note that when these innocent children are tortured none of the Union government leaders have the courtesy to come forward and speak”

Rakesh Putran, a member of Fish Merchants’ Association also raising his voice said, “The rape and torture of these innocent children, Kathua, Unnao and Surat, and also murder of young girl Sowjanya in 2012, is indeed a shameful act and a blemish on our country. We should not be silent about it anymore and stand against it. Our country is famous and respected globally for its culture, tradition and values. But recently our nation has been recognized for rapes and murders, which is no doubt a tragedy and a shamed for citizens like us. It is horrifying to see how these rapists are being shielded by some holding the national flag. We should persistently protest and get these rapists strict punishment and make the law even stricter. Although we are losing big income due to this one day fish trade bandh, but we want to send a strong message to end rape and child murders in the country. We should all join in this effort to end such atrocities on children and women in India”.

Sashikala, a fish vendor at the Fish Market near State Bank, who will be taking part in the protest near the DC’s office speaking to Team Mangalorean said, ” Even though I am losing a day’s income, but that’s okay-We are all ready to sacrifice for that, but we want to bring to the notice of all the leaders who govern this country that they should not just sit on their ‘as@@’ and ignore all the atrocities, murders, assaults that are taking place against the ting girls, youth and women. All this need to be stopped immediately. Violence against women has grown to a great extent in free India. Dowry deaths, murder, bride burning, etc are giving rise to other violence in the society. Simultaneous increase in violence against women is hindering the social, economical, political, and cultural progress in the country. At the time of marriage, if a bride do not bring an adequate dowry with her, she would really be at high risk of maltreatment after the marriage. Thousands of girls are being the victims of this social devil on daily basis. Girls and women should join in this fight in order to bring justice to the feminine society”.

It appears that on the pressure from the IMF Chief,
the Center in India is considering the death penalty
for raping children.

Due to the number of rapes and murders, especially
in the UP, Bihar, and the North areas, the POSCO Act
was introduced, but it appears that truly did not deter
criminals from committing such henious acts against
children and women in India.

Litigation and Judicial laws must change to see any
change in India in this respect, and as well in the
areas of corruption and cheating.
