PSI Srikala Should be Expelled from DK Police Department – DDSHS

Mangalauru: “PSI Srikala was suspended for the assault on a poor Dalit. Srikala is using political power to revoke her suspension. There are rumours that she will be reinstated to some other police station as PSI. The Dalita Damainthara Swambhimani Horata Samiti condemns such a corrupt police officer being in power”, said the Dalit leader Raghuveer Suterpete in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on May 15.

Addressing the mediapersons Raghuveer said, “Srikala is involved in various cases, she has approached various political leaders to bring pressure on the police department to revoke her suspension. A political leader in the constituency is allegedly supporting her. We need a clarification from that political leader whether he is helping the victims or the corrupt police Sub Inspector. Seven cases have been registered against her and many victims are coming forward to file a complaint against her. In such a situation political leaders should not support PSI Srikala. If she is reinstated in DK, the Dalita Damainthara Swambhimani Horata Samiti will stage a protest against the political leaders in front of their houses, if the police department will support her we will stage a protest in front of the police department to demand justice.”

Addressing the mediapersons Ashok Konchadi said, “Many of Srikala’s victims are afraid to come forward to file a case because many of the victims are from the police department. If any of the victims, for various reasons are afraid to demand justice, they can approach the Dalita Damainthara Swambhimani Horata Samiti or they can directly file their complaints with the police commissioner. We have approached the Home minister Dr G Parameshwar and handed over a memorandum demanding justice by dismissing her. We have also handed over a memorandum to the police commissioner Chandra Sekhar who has assured us of doing justice with the victims”.

Suresh Bhat Bakrebail, Dalit leaders Nirmal Kumar, Ramesh Kotian, Yashodha Hosabettu, Dayanand Kotian, Shekhar Chilimbi and others were also present.
