Pulwama Attack, BJP Stages Protest Against Terrorism
Mangaluru: The District Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest against the recent terror attack in Pulwama which killed 44 jawans, in front of the DC office here on February 18.
Addressing the protesters MLA of Moodbidri Constituency Umanath Kotian said, “The terror attack on our soldiers is condemnable. The Kashmiri Separatists are involved with Pakistanis and killing our innocent soldiers in the borders. Who are joining the military? Many youth from the poor families and the middle class are joining the military to give their best to the country and safeguard citizens from the enemies. But today they are not safe. While the soldiers were returning to their units after their vacation, a suicide bomber crashed his vehicle loaded with RDX into the military bus, killing 44 soldiers. It was a cowardly act and the entire country should condemn it.”
Umanath Kotian further said, “Every soldier has the duty to safeguard the citizens but now it is our duty to fight for their safety. We need to support our prime minister to give a befitting reply for this attack. Pakistan is involved with the Kashmiri Separatists in killing our soldiers. This country has given us life, we should all join hands to fight against terrorism. It is the duty of each one of us to be with the families of 44 soldiers who have sacrificed their loved ones for the country. We are with prime minister Modi to take necessary measures to give a befitting reply to those involved in the Pulwama attack.”
Addressing the protesters Monappa Bhandary said, “Two days ago, the soldiers who were safeguarding our country were killed while they were returning to join duty after a vacation, a suicide bomber had crashed his vehicle carrying explosives in to the military bus killing 44 soldiers. We should condemn this dastardly act. Earlier too Pakistan has tried to kill our soldiers, but this time they killed our unarmed innocent soldiers. Pakistan used an Indian to kill our soldiers. If Pakistan has the guts let they declare a war. Imran Khan who was a cricket player has now become the prime minister of Pakistan, shame on him”.
Monappa further said, “India is a country with unity in diversity where all are equal. Pakistan is doing injustice by attacking our soldiers from behind. Our soldiers are patriots, when they start their operations they will show their capacity. The Prime minister has give the army the free hand to take action against those involved in the Pulwama attack. Whatever action the army takes the Prime minister will support them. This is the only Prime minister who has encouraged our soldiers to take action. The Congress and CPI(M) are cowards. A communist leader was counting the number of Hindus who were killed in the attack? Those who are shouting slogans against the country are traitors. One of the police officer was opposing the protesters while shouting anti-Pakistan slogans. Why was the officer stopping the protesters? The Police are public servants, their duty is to protect the citizens. Such police officers are not fit to receive the salary which is the tax money paid by the citizens”.
Former District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak, Capt Brijesh Chowta, Sanjeev Matandoor, Ravishankar Mijar also spoke on the occasion.
