Pundi’s and Ladoo’s Galore at ‘Swaadhishta’- a Healthy Food Fest by St Aloysius College

Mangaluru: The final year students of the Department of Journalism, St Aloysius College {Autonomous} Mangaluru organized ‘Swaadhishta’- a Healthy Food Fest on July 22, Sunday at the main atrium of City Centre Mall from 4PM. The event featured an assortment of healthy food items on sale such as nutritional ladoos, sandwiches, date bites, guava juice, fruit salad, lemonade, sprouts salad, peanut salad, jaggery Ada, banana pie, nutritional bars, and Mutli, a Mangalorean speciality.

The public even asked for takeaways for some of the dishes. The likes of chutney sandwiches and fruit salads were amongst the first to be completely sold out.

One happy customer remarked, “I am in the food processing industry and my lifestyle is such that I consume a lot of healthy food items. I feel this is a great initiative and that more such programs must be organized to ensure this mentality is there.”

All proceeds from the day were donated to charity via the Center for Social Concern of St Aloysius Institutions. The PR event was an earnest attempt on part of the students at spreading awareness about eating healthy among the general public of Mangaluru. It also aimed at breaking the misconception that ‘healthy can’t be tasty’. Alongside the food items, their recipes were also displayed in an effort to explain to the public how it isn’t a hard task to live a healthy life style.
