Addressing the protesters district secretary Santosh Bajal said, “The Padil – Bajal Railway Underpass was a dream of the residents for many years. After several protests and memorandums, the Railway underpass was constructed. But now the roads connecting through the Railway underpass to many places, have closed and vehicular movement has completely come to a halt. People who are living in these areas are finding it difficult to commute.

He further said that the people in the area are facing severe problems in the rainy season since water accumulates in the Railway underpass which makes it very difficult to go from one side to the other. We have brought this matter to the notice of the concerned authorities but they have not taken any action until now. We have protested several times at the underpass, the authorities keep doing some work to please us.

The protesters demanded to immediately repair the roads from Padil- Bajal, Railway underpass – Bajal, Jalligudde, Faisalnagar, Vijayanagar and Alape and action to drain the accumulating water in the underpass. They also demanded strict action against those involved in the construction of the Railway underpass in an unscientific way wasting taxpayers money and causing inconvenience to the people of the area.

Later a memorandum was submitted to the Commissioner.
