‘Pura Pravesha’ of Admar Math Swamiji to be held on January 8
Udupi: The “Pura Pravesha” programme of Sri Eshapriya Swamiji of Admar Math will be held here on January 8, 2020. Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji and Sri Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji Admar Math of Admar Math will be ascending the ‘Paryaya Peeta’ for the second time on January 18.
Speaking at a press meet held at the Admar Math Guest House on January 4, Raghupathi Bhat honorary president of the reception committee said that the pravesha is a customary entry into the city by the Swamiji ascending the Paryaya Peeta after going on a pre-Paryaya tour to pilgrimage centres and other religious places. The “Pura Pravesha” procession will start at Jodukatte at 2:30 pm. The procession will reach Car Street at 5:30 pm. and Sri Eshapriya Swamiji will enter the Admar Math at 5:55 pm.
A felicitation ceremony will be held to felicitate Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji and Sri Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji at Car Street at 6:00 pm. The Swamiji will be felicitated by the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC), Paryaya Krishna Seva Balaga and other organisations.
Udupi district minister in-charge Basavaraj Bommai, State urban and revenue minister R Ashok, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, U R Sabhapathi, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde and former IPS officer K Annamalai will participate in the felicitation programme. Sri Eshapriya Swamiji of Admar Math will grace the occasion.
The Paryaya festival will be held on January 18. The Paryaya procession will begin from Jodu Katte at 1:50 am. Admar Math Swamiji will ascend the Paryaya Peeta. The Paryaya Darbar programme will be held at Rajangana at 2:30 pm.
Admar Math will embark on a new journey emphasising on environmental-friendly initiatives to send a message to society to curb the usage of plastic. Junior pontiff Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji is keen on environmental-friendly Paryaya celebrations. “Plastic banners, posters and other publicity materials in plastic will be replaced with cloth materials. Plastic will be banned during the celebrations. Wherever plastic was used, it will be replaced with cloth and paper.
The ceremonial grand welcome will be accompanied by rituals. Decorations like ‘Taliru Thorana’, ‘Deepa’ and ‘Rangavalli’ will be seen on both sides of the roads to mark the Swamiji’s ‘Pura Pravesha and ‘Paryaya Shobhayatre’. ‘Hore Kanike’ ritual will not be limited to the days of the ceremony but will be extended during the Paryaya. Accordingly, people, willing to donate materials for the Paryaya festivities, will be given an opportunity to offer ‘Hore Kanike’ once in a fortnight for the first time. The villagers of Admar, Malpe, Kodavur and Mattu will offer the first ‘Hore Kanike’, he added.
