Puttur: Binoy (39), a civil engineer residing in Kutruppady of Kadaba in the taluk, died in a road mishap that took place at Kemmara near Uppinangady on Thursday.

He was riding his bike from Uppinangady to Kadaba. Members of a family from Upparpet in Bengaluru were on their way to Kollur in a car, after visiting Subrahmanya. Rash driving by the car driver has been blamed for the mishap.

The collision took place with such force that the bike is said to have been dragged with the rider over a distance of 20 feet. Binoy was critically injured and reportedly died on the spot.

The passersby were enraged because in spite of the rash driving by the car driver, the occupants of the car held Binoy responsible. As an altercation took place, the public were about to assault the driver. Police from Uppinangady arrived in time and whisked the family members to a safe place.

Binoy’s wife is working abroad and she has been informed. They have son. Fate played its irony in that Binoy, being a civil engineer himself, is getting a new house built at Panjitadtil and death snatched him well before the house-warming ceremony.

The traffic police from Puttur have registered a case.
