Puttur Gang Rape Case, 5 Students Arrested
Mangaluru: Five students from a reputed college in Puttur have been arrested in connection with the gang rape and for circulating the intimate act on the social media here on July 3.
The arrested have been identified as Gurunandan alias Radhakrishna (19), from Puttur, Prajwal alias Nagesh Naik (19) from Perne Bantwal, Kishan alias Sadashiv (19) from Bantwal, Sunil alias Kanthappa Gowda (19) from Puttur and Prakyath alias Subbanna Shetty (19) from Bantwal.
According to the police, during the last week of March 2019 at around 3:30 pm, all the five accused Gurunandan, Prajwal, Kishan, Sunil and Prakyath had forcibly taken the girl student to a remote area and had given her a drink laced with drugs. Later they had raped her and also captured the intimate act on their mobile. The accused recently circulated the video on the WhatsApp group.
The district police have alerted the public about the said video being circulated on social media. A Suo Moto case has been registered on July 3, under section 341, 376 (D) R/W 34 IPC and 3(1) (W)(1)(11),3(3)(V) SC/ST PA Amendment Act 2015 R/W 66 E, 67A IT Act in the Puttur Women’s police station and all the five accused have been arrested.

Punishment comes when they are tried in the court of law.
If their family members belong to any political parties, they need to resign till they are punished.
