Puttur: The state Lokayukta officials on Thursday raided the property of eight officials from different departments located in eight districts and fetched a big haul all over.

As part of the operation, a team raided the house of range forest officer M Balakrishna Acharya at Bolwarbail Urlandi on the outskirts around 5-45 am.
The team was led by Lokayukta SP H D Mendonca and other officials drawn from Udupi and Mangaluru.
Soon thereafter, another team raided Acharya’s office premises at Sampaje where he is serving under the jurisdiction of Kodagu range.
The ‘Gokula’ house which was raided is built on a 10-cent land, believed to be at a cost of Rs 1 crore, the value of which is being reckoned by the team.
They found 200 gms gold, Rs 3.70 lakh in cash, investment certificates, records of sites totalling 50 cents, a Maruti Suzuki WagonR car, a two-wheeler, one and a quarter kg of silver and other documents.
Passbooks of four bank accounts have been seized for verification. The raid lasted all through the day.
Acharya had joined the forest service 29 years ago.
