She was an Engineering graduate and was on a visit to an industrial unit run by her father in Chennai. Family sources said that while on the premises, the shawl of her churidar got entangled into a steel sheet-cutting machine. Her mother Savita is the daughter of Maruvantila Narayana Rai and Kusuma of Perabe in Puttur taluk. The Adyantayas live in Chennai and run the unit in the industrial area in Chennai, where the tragedy took place.

The family had recently visited Mangaluru to attend a relative’s wedding on May 4 and then visited the native place in Maruvantila. They had travelled back to Chennai only on May 7.

Nireeksha worked for a private firm in Chennai for some time. She had recently resigned her job to pursue MBA studies.

The post-mortem examination of her mortal remains has been held in Chennai. The body is expected to be brought to her mother’s house in Maruvantila in Perabe. After final rites are held at the residence of her uncle Subhanu Rai, the cremation will be held near the house in the morning on Wednesday, May 13.
