Puttur: Sridhar Gowda (56), a successful entrepreneur in town, died in a tragic fall at his new house under construction at Bedrala on Sunday, Feb 1.
He originally hailed from Sampaje and had settled with his brothers in Puttur some years ago. He owned Jyoti Wines shop in Darbe and was also executive committee member of Vokkaliga Gowda Seva Sangha and member of the advisory committee of Shri Venkataramana Society, representing Puttur taluk.
He resided near Fr Patrao Hospital in Parladka and was getting a new house constructed at Bedrala. The concrete work of the first floor had been completed on Saturday and the curing work was to begin on Sunday. He had brought two workers and was getting thatching grass spread over the concrete slab before water was sprayed.
As he was trying to alight from the top by using the ladder, he is said to slipped and fallen on the slab below and sustained severe head and other injuries. He was taken to Dhanvantari hospital but he was declared dead upon arrival.
He was a kind-hearted donor. Whenever he read reports of needy persons in the media, he would get their details and contacts and contribute his mite. He sponsored many scholarships promoted by the Gowda Sangha for the benefit of poor and deserving students.
He is survived by wife Parvati, daughters Prafulla and Kavyashri and son-in-law Ganesh.
