Puttur: The need for making the wearing of helmets compulsory for both riders in a two-wheelers has come to the fore, as a collision of bikes was reported from Bedrala on the outskirts here.
During the past two months, cases of collision between bikes have been reported in the district and there have been casualties in a few of them.
Two bikes had collided on Saturday night. Kumar (50), resident of Chapalla in Kudmar, had been critically injured and admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. He died there on Sunday.
He was engaged in rubber-tapping profession. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
The rider of another bike, Girish, was also injured and is under treatment in a private hospital in Puttur.
