Puttur: Ullal Barikeguttu Shivaram Shetty (74), a resident of Samettadka and a senior hotelier in town, passed away in a private hospital in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Sep 16 morning. He was indisposed for some time.
Popularly known as ‘Swagat’ Shivaramanna to everyone, he had been running his ‘Swagat Hotel’ since 1975.
He is survived by wife Sujata, daughters Supriya and Supreeta. Jayaram Shetty of Swagat Sweets, Prabhakar Shetty of Sweekar Sweets, another hotelier Balakrishna Shetty and Sulochana S Shetty are his siblings.
He was the son of the late Babu Shetty and Akkamma Shetty couple.
Minister Vinayakumar Sorake, MP Nalinkumar Kateel, MLA Shakuntala Shetty and many other political and community leaders of diverse denominations visited his house and conveyed their condolences to the family.
