Puttur: A pregnant woman, while being shifted in a 108 ambulance from the government hospital in Puttur to Lady Goschen in Mangaluru on Tuesday, had her delivery while in transit at Kabaka.
Shalini (19) of Kadaba, as the expected date of her child approached, had been admitted first to the government hospital here on Monday and then to Lady Goschen. Since there were no signs of any complication she was sent back to Puttur.
On Tuesday, she was again shifted to Mangaluru. As the ambulance reached Kabaka, Shalini developed pains. Emergency medical technician (EMT) Suresh and pilot Karunakar ensured safe delivery in the ambulance. Both mother and child are said to be in normal condition.
