Mumbai, Sep 18 (IANS) Ahead of the India release of “Sicario” — a film about a female FBI agent caught up in the drug war along the US-Mexico border, PVR Pictures will be honouring women for their contribution in their profession as a part of their campaign – PVR Sicario ‘Women Of Steel’.
With the awards, they will salute the girl power from different walks like cinema, alternate content, philanthropy, stand-up comedy and music. The date of the awards ceremony to be held here is yet to be finalised.
“’Sicario’ is a film which showcases the protagonist (Emily Blunt) as a ‘Woman of Steel’. Therefore, we decided to honour women from different walks of life in India,” said Dharmesh Datta, head marketing, PVR Pictures.
“PVR Sicario ‘Women Of Steel’ is a campaign to celebrate these amazing women and acknowledge their contribution to society,” he added.
“An internal jury is in the process of deciding whom to give away the awards and plan to announce the names by early next week,” said a source.
The film stars Emily Blunt, an idealistic FBI agent who is enlisted by an elected government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs at the border area. The film speaks strongly for women and portrays Blunt as a powerful character.
PVR Pictures’ forthcoming film “Sicario” will hit the screen in India on September 25.
