Quraishi Main Accused in Prakash Poojary Assault Case – Police Commissioner
Mangaluru: “Quraishi is recovering in the hospital. DCP Law and Order is investigating the case, we need the statement from two witnesses who have not yet come. Once we get their statements the investigation will complete. As per the court order, Quraishi was admitted to the KMC hospital. Now he has been re-admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and according to the hospital authorities, he is recovering”, said the police commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet on April 16.
When questioned on who paid Quraishi’s KMC hospital bill, Chandra Sekhar said, “The Court had ordered to admit him to the KMC hospital and according to the court order we have shifted him to the KMC hospital. In the hospital, he had recovered and was discharged. It is between the Jail, Court, and Hospital and we have followed the court orders. We are not aware of the payment issues. Whatever we get the orders, we follow them and provide necessary escort. We have done our duty”.
When asked about Quraishi being innocent and why had the police arrested him, Chandra Sekhar said, “Quraishi is the accused in Sudarshan attempt to murder case in Suratkal. In the Prakash Poojary assault case, Quraishi is the main accused. We will investigate the case and take action accordingly”.
When asked about Quraishi’s health, Chandra Sekhar said, “Quraishi is now admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and he is in good health. He is on treatment and according to the Hospital authorities, he is recovering. Some people are spreading false rumours that Quraishi is in a critical state, but he is fine. Whatever rumours are being circulated by trouble makers are wrong. It is my responsibility to ensure that rumours don’t create problems”.
