Quraishi’s condition is Not Serious, Action will be taken against Rumour Mongers – Police Commissioner
Mangaluru: “Some trouble makers had published certain messages on WhatsApp and other social media. They have also photoshopped screenshots of a TV channel and published showing Ahmed Quraishi in critical condition. Rumour-mongers have published false news and are trying to create problems in the society. We have conveyed the message to the people through the media that he is stable. We are in constant touch with the Hospital authorities and have also received the report from them that Quraishi is stable. Some miscreants are trying to create fear in the society,” said the Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at his office here on April 17.
Addressing the mediapersons Chandra Sekhar said, “We have information about the involvement of rumour mongers. Within one or two days we will collect all the evidence and take necessary action against those who are involved in spreading false rumours. We have filed cases under sections 505 (2), 153 IPC and 66 IT act 2008 and will take action against the troublemakers. We have received the medical reports from the hospital authorities, that the Prakash Poojary attempt to murder case accused is stable. Some interested parties are trying to disturb the law and order situation and public order in the city. Our investigation has revealed that some people are intentionally spreading rumours. We will take action against those who spread false rumours. The main aim of the press conference is to ensure that the message goes to the people that there are elements trying to take advantage of the situation. Quraishi’s health condition is stable and he is doing well.”
Chandra Sekhar also said, “In the messages circulated in WhatsApp and social media, it has been mentioned that Quraishi’s condition was critical. We have also learnt that threats are being issued to the good citizens for trying to project the truth. In this case, they are free to approach the police so that we can provide them with the necessary protection. Since this is a sensitive issue, it is our responsibility to ensure that Quraishi’s health condition is stable. I request while reporting Quraishi’s health condition, please confirm it with the police or hospital. His health report is very good. The motive is to create tension and law and order problem in the society. The inquiry by the DCP is coming to an end, we are waiting for the statements from three witnesses”.
“The real video footage of Quraishi shows that he is stable and his condition is not critical. There is an attempt to create problems using Quraishi’s issue. We have identified some people and we will take action against them soon”, said Chandra Sekhar.
Chandra Sekhar also said, “Today we had a meeting with the district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, Minister U T Khader, MLA Moideen Bava and other prominent citizens. After seeing the video footage they suggested us to call for a press meet and reveal the truth. So we had to call for a press meet. Through the media, we need to inform the people that Quraishi’s health condition good.”
DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil was also present.
