Raghavendra Ganiga sent to Judicial Custody until March 16 for pro-Pakistan Slogans
Udupi: Raghavendra Ganiga, who raised pro-Pakistan slogans at the Mini Vidhana Soudha, Kundapur has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
On Monday, March 2 morning, Raghavendra Ganiga suddenly started shouting pro-Pakistan slogans at the Mini Vidhana Soudha. The police team led by sub-inspector Kundapur Harish arrived at the premises of Mini Vidhan Soudha and detained Raghavendra even as he continued shouting pro-Pakistan slogans.
“His family has claimed that they had taken him to the taluk government hospital on Monday morning. However, he escaped from there, reached the Mini Vidhan Soudha and shouted slogans. A case of 124A of IPC (pertaining to sedition) has been registered against Raghavendra Ganiga.
The Kundapur police produced Raghavendra Ganiga before the Magistrate in the evening. His lawyer filed a bail application but the Magistrate Nagarthamma did not accept his application. When the police asked for Raghavendra Ganiga’s custody, the magistrate advised them to file an application in the open court. Magistrate Nagarthamma sent Raghavendra to Judicial custody until March 16. Later Raghavendra was shifted to the District Prison, Hiriyadka.
