Rahul Gandhi visits Rosario Cathedral
Mangaluru: The AICC president Rahul Gandhi visited the Rosario Cathedral and seek blessings from the Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza here on March 20.
A short prayer service was held at the Rosario Cathedral. MLA J R Lobo welcomed the gathering. Parish priest of Rosario Cathedral read the gospel.
Addressing the gathering Bishop Dr Aloysius said, “There are two types of leaders they are the good and bad leaders. First one are the bad leaders they are the one who bosses over others, misuse their power and rule over the people. They demonstrate their mite to destroy others. The second type of leaders are good leaders they are the one who serves and has concern for the welfare of the people. The good servant is the one who works with responsibility and love”.
Bishop Dr Alyosius further said, “The quality of a good leader that, he is almost like a slave, he carries with him, humility, he is the one who does not show arrogance but only love, the one who does not create fear but consideration and solace. Yes, these are the good qualities of a good leader and political leaders should hold on to such great qualities. Our father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was such a leader, he was so humble and so noble. Ours is a great nation and we are great people. We have excellent leaders in our country and we need such leaders to take our nation forward. We are proud to be Indians and Our country is so beautiful with so many varieties. We Indians are so tolerant and peace-loving people.”
Bishop also said, “As Christians, we are proud to be part of this great country. We Catholics are just three percent in this country but we have contributed in a great way i.e about 25% of the growth of the country and we are very happy about that. We pray for our nation that our nation moves forward with great leaders to guide our great nation. May Lord Jesus Bless you Sir and your mission to the nation. We assure you of our prayers. May God Bless you.”
Bishop Dr Aloysius felicitated Rahul Gandhi with a Shawl, Peta, Rosary, Bible and a memento. Former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino delivered the vote of thanks.
CM Siddramaiah, KPCC President Dr Parameshwar, Venugopal, Vishnunath, Minister Ramanath Rai, Minister U T Khader, former minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, NRI Entrepreneur Ronald Colaco and others were also present.
