Rahul leads protests against CBI Director’s removal

New Delhi: Stepping up its attack over the midnight removal of CBI Director Alok Verma, Congress President Rahul Gandhi is leading street protests on Friday accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to prevent a probe in the Rafale aircraft purchase.

“Join us today at 11 AM as we march from Dayal Singh College on Lodhi Road to the CBI HQ, to protest the PM’s disgraceful & unconstitutional attempt to block an investigation into the Rafale scam by removing the CBI Chief,” Rahul said on Twitter.

He said similar protests were being held on Friday outside all the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) offices across the country.

Earlier, Rahul had accused Modi of forcing CBI Director Alok Verma to go on indefinite leave out of “panic”, claiming that Verma was about to begin an investigation into the Rafale deal.
