Rai Flags off First of its Kind ‘PledgeUrSupportCampaign’, to prevent Crime in City

Mangaluru: To mark the crime prevention month, a vehicle campaign “PledgeUrSupportCampaign”, was flagged off by the district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai at the Police commissionerate here on January 6.

After flagging off the vehicle, minister Ramanath speaking to media persons said, “To mark the crime prevention month, a vehicle containing a large screen will move in the city for a month to bring awareness about preventing crime. The vehicle will bring awareness among the people to prevent crime and seek support from the general public in this regard.”

Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “This is the first time of its kind campaign in the South India using a vehicle moving in the city to bring awareness about preventing crime. If awareness is brought among the people in the society we can prevent crime. Sometimes strangers may call and ask for the bank password and people blindly give the number and later face problems. We need to bring awareness to the general public to be safe. We are very poor in propaganda. By this campaign “PledgeUrSupportCampaign”, we will associate with some people, they will associate with some more people and whatever we want to say and do we will propagate through them. The vehicle will play videos on rash driving, overtaking etc and people will realise the consequences of negligence. The vehicle will move in the city for two hours every day and at other times it will be used for other purposes.”

Speaking to the media persons, managing partner of NOMADICS, Suraj B K said, “This is a crime prevention campaign, this vehicle will run for a month in the city to bring awareness to the people. We are into digital media and this is the first such video vehicle in all of South India. This vehicle will be used for digital advertisement as well. The vehicle will run for 10 days for the police department awareness programme from Morning 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. On Sunday the vehicle will create awareness at the beach”.

Suraj further said, “There are 27 videos will be played with advertisements in between. The vehicle will be parked in three spots in the city every day to bring awareness about crime prevention.”

DCP Law and order Shantharaju, DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil, District Youth congress president Mithun Rai, ACP Uday Nayak, ACP Tilakchandra, AGM Corporation Bank Vittal Shenoy and others were also present.
