Raid on gambling centres, 4 arrested
Mangaluru: The CCB police raided two gambling centers and arrested four persons from Pumpwell and Mannagudda, late night on 18 July.
The arrested have been identified as Ratan Kumar (46), a resident of Ujjodi Kankanady; Yathish (45) from Kanakarabettu; Suresh Achary (44) from Urva Marigudi and Dharmapal Shetty (60) from Kankanady.
According to the police, on July 18 night, the CCB police raided Padmashree Hotel and arrested Ratan when he was occupied with gambling. Ratan collected money from the locals. The police have seized the playing cards used for gambling, a CBZ motorcycle and Rs 51,030 cash from his possession. The CCB police handed over Ratan along with the seized items to Mangaluru Rural Police station for further investigations.
In another case, the CCB police raided Gurji Junction Mannagudda, where a group was involved in gambling. There the police arrested Yathish, Suresh and Dharmapal and seized playing cards, a TVS Jupiter scooter and Rs 21,500 cash from their possession. The arrested have been handed over to the Barke police station for further investigations.
Under the able leadership of Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar and the guidance of DCP L&O Shantharaju and DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil, the operation was carried out by the CCB Inspector Sunil Nayak and PSI Shyam Sundar and team.
