Raids on sand mafia to be intensified – DC Priyanka Mary Francis
Udupi: The raids on sand mafia will be intensified said Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Priyanka Mary Francis. She was speaking to media persons here on April 4 during her visit to address the government officials on strike demanding stringent action on the accused who had attacked the deputy commissioner and her team.
The attack by the sand mafia has strengthened my resolve to crack down on them in the district. The attack on my team cannot be tolerated. The people, people’s representatives, media and the government officials have supported the crackdown on the sand mafia. The sand mafia is trying its best to destroy the district but their efforts will be suppressed. The raids will continue on the illegal sand mining areas on the information received. The police department will be involved in the future raids, a mobile squad will be formed to take on the sand mafia, she added.
The higher officials have asked for the report on the crackdown on sand mafia on March 2, a report has been sent to them. Police have detained 7 persons, and a counter complaint has been filed against the gunman. The complaint against the gunman has been filed intentionally, which is known to everyone. I will not crack my head on the cases filed, the police department will initiate necessary action, she added.
