Rain causes landslips, hits B’luru-M’luru rail services

Sakleshpur/Mangaluru: South Western Railway has cancelled and diverted a few trains after mud and rocks loosened by heavy rain covered the tracks between Shirivagilu and Subrahmanya Road Railway stations. One enormous boulder was blocking the railway track needs to be removed by blasting. Railway staff were working round-the-clock in harsh weather to clear the slurry and dangerous rocks from the track.

The Western Ghats have been receiving heavy rain.

To ensure the safety, Train No. 16575 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Express commencing on Sunday and Train No. 16576 Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur Express commencing on Monday, have been cancelled.

Services of trains that departed on Saturday were diverted via Salem and Palakkad, stated a press release from Senior Divisional Operations Manager and Senior PRO South Western Railway (SWR) Mysuru Division, Satish.

Train No. 16513 KSR Bengaluru-Karwar Express commencing on Saturday was partially cancelled between Mangaluru Central and Karwar. Train No. 16514 Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Express commencing on Sunday is partially cancelled between Karwar and Mangaluru.

Train No. 16511/16513 KSR Bengaluru-Kannur/Karwar express commencing on Saturday has been diverted via Jolarpettai, Salem, Palakkad, Shoranur Jn instead of via Shravanabelagola, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Mangaluru.

Train No 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Express commencing on Saturday was diverted to run via Shoranur Jn, Palakkad, Salem, Jolarpettai instead of via Mangaluru, Sakleshpur, Hassan and Mysuru.
