Rakshith Shetty Attains 10th &11th Guinness World Records in Marathon

Mangaluru: This person, Rakshith Shetty, is like the Energizer Bunny—the pink, fuzzy mechanical mascot that wears shades, shuffles around in flip-flops and beats a drum, which appears on American TV in a commercial ad for Energizer battery. Chances are you’ve seen it in one or more of the innumerable TV spots that look like ads for something other than batteries—until the needle-scratch moment when the bunny enters the screen, pounding that big drum while the voice over man extols the batteries that “keep going and going and going.” Similarly, Rakshith has been “keep going and going and going” in a marathon and has been entering himself in the Guinness Book of World Records. Team Mangalorean who has been supporting Rakshith’s efforts in this sport is very proud to note that he has now 11 Guinness World Records to his credit. Congrats buddy!

The recent 10th and 11th Guinness World Record (GWR) are of his participation in a half-APR marathon held in Bengaluru in December 2016. This is Rakshith’s biggest achievement getting double GWR in a single marathon. The 10th GWR is for his run in the Marathon wearing Salwar Kameez, and the 11th GWR is for running in the Marathon wearing beach slippers. So until now, Rakshith has 11 GWR, and he is really overwhelmed, and looking forward to much more such records. In the Flip-flop (running with Slippers), Rakshith has beaten the record held by a United Kingdom Marathon runner with the timing of 1hr 40 min 57 secs), which was broken by Rakshith with his time record of 1 hr 30 min 23 secs.

This man who lives by the principle of simple living and high thinking, down-to-earth, soft-spoken Rakshith is now a proud holder of nine Guinness World Records and guess what?- he’s the only one of his kind in India.
