Ramakrishna Mission carries out 3rd-week Swacchata Abhiyan
The 3rd Shramadan of the 40 Weeks’ Swacchata Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission held on 19th November 2017
Mangaluru: 3rd week’s Swacchata Abhiyan of the 40 weeks’ Abhiyan being carried out by Ramakrishna Mission was carried out in the Service Bus Stand area near State Bank. Followed by prayers at 7.30 am the Abhiyan was flagged off by Swami Raghaveshanandaji, Adhyakhsa, Ramakrishna Math, Ooty & Swami Maheshatmanandaji, Correspondent, RIMSE, Mysore. Abdul Sharif, Principal of PA Engineering College & Hinf, President of Pace Next Institution were the guests of honour. Harish H R, Dist. Lions 317 District Governor, Swami Jitakamanandaji, K C Prabhu, Sadananda Upadhyaya and other dignitaries were present.
Flagging off was followed by Swami Jitakamanandaji & guests led the volunteers in cleaning the service bus stand by sweeping the area. JCB was used to repair the road that needed urgent maintenance. Students of PA Engineering College under the guidance of Dr Biren Moyiddin cleaned the area surrounding Rao & Rao Circle. Dr Palakshappa led another group of students in the area opposite Lady Goshchen hospital who cleaned the road dividers by removing the weeds etc. They also removed the illegal banners & posters stuck in that region.
Members of Nivedita Balaga, students of S M Kushe School & volunteers from Scouts & Guides disposed of the garbage under the guidance of Senior volunteer, Vittaldas Prabhu. Members of Hindu Warriors group cleaned loads of dirt & garbage from the telephone booth located there.
Ruhia Hussain of Anti Pollution Drive under the guidance of Abdul Rehman visited several shops and tried to create awareness among the shopkeepers by distributing awareness handbills and requesting them not to throw garbage on the road outside. Bus drivers and conductors were also requested to maintain cleanliness in the bus stand area. Message creating awareness about hygiene and sanitation was broadcast using the sound system and speakers.
Members of Old students association of P A Engineering College and Ganesh Pai, Vice President of Pace Next, Shafnaz Sayyad Ismail and many other youths actively participated in the cleanliness drive that started at 7.30 and went on till 10 am. All the volunteers were served breakfast after the drive.
Members of Kumar Gym friends under the guidance of Kiran Kumar Pujari renovated & repainted an Anganavadi at Kodikal on the Children’s day under Ramakrishna Mission Swacchata Abhiyan and created awareness among the inmates there.
Swacch Gram Abhiyan:
Under the aegis of Ramakrishna Mission, Swacch Gram Abhiyan was carried out at Thokkottu, Someshwara, Munnur, Talapady, Ullala, Konaje, Amblamogaru, Kotekar, Kukkipady, Permannur and nearly 20 more villages. More than 1300 volunteers took part in the drive. Equipment needed for the drive, T-Shirts, banners and other materials were provided by the Ramakrishna Mission apart from arranging for tiffin for all the volunteers. D K Zilla Panchayat is supporting these drives.
