Ramakrishna Mission Completes 33 weeks of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan
Mangaluru: Thirty-third week of 9 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, 21 May 2017 at 9 different venues.
382 Jail Road– The inmates of Subrahmanya Sabha took up the cleanliness drive in Canara College Road, Jail road and Veterinary hospital road areas. C S Bhandari and Prashanth Ubarangala flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the road in front of Canara College along with its side and adjoining drains. They also removed the old posters and banners. Later they cleaned the drains adjoining the jail compound. This was followed by cleaning of C G Kamath Road and road leading to Karangalpady. Srikanth Rao coordinated the drive.
383 Bejai– The Team Mangalore Seniors carried out cleanliness drive in Bejai and Surrounding areas. Keshava Rao and Ramesh Rao flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the surroundings of KSRTC Bus stand and Bejai main road. The area in front of Bus shelter opposite Bharath mall in Bejai was uneven and was a nuisance to the public. This land was levelled using mason and civil repair works. In the coming days, seats for the waiting public will be erected in the bus shelter. Ramakumar Bekal guided the work. Ramesh Shettigar, Krishna Shetty and several others participated in the drive.
384 Kottara Chowki– The members of Kumar Gym Friends team carried out the drive below Kottara Flyover. The scene of street vendors along with their stalls spread across below the fly over was an eyesore in the region. The Volunteers with the help of localites removed them and cleaned the area. They also removed the posters stuck on the walls of pillars of the fly-over. Dhanveer, Deepesh Kumar, Santosh and many others youth of Kumar Gym Friends actively participated in the drive. Kiran Kumar coordinated the team.
385 Kadri Park Road – The members of Dakshina Kannada Havyaka Sabha carried out cleanliness work in Jogi Math Marg and surrounding area of Kadri Park. Lakshmi Prasad and Shailaja flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the roads and removed the plastic papers and bottles scattered on the roadsides and footpaths. Venugopal Mambady Coordinated the team.
386 Mangala Nagar– The inmates of Bhagini Samaj and students took up the drive in Mangala Nagar area. Mamatha and Jyothi flagged off the drive. They also distributed awareness handbills among the residents. Usha and group visited several house and shops distributing awareness handbills among the residents of Mulihithlu, Jeppu etc. Rathna Alva coordinated the drive.
387 Bolar – The members of Nivedita Balaga carried out awareness programme in Bolar area. Former Corporator Sri Suresh Shetty led the team of volunteers visiting homes in Mission Compound, the road in front of Bolar School and the residents of Marigudi area. They also identified the persons who were littering and throwing garbage and addressing their issues of garbage disposal through the officials of Anthony Waste Management.
388 Pandeshwara – The employees of Sriram Transport Finance carried out the drive in Pandeshwara area from Fire station police station to RTO Circle. They also removed the plastic papers and bottles. Sudarshan coordinated the drive.
389 Gandhi Nagar – The members of Art of Living took up the drive in Gandhi Nagar primary school premises. Volunteers cleaned the school premises, the park nearby and surrounding area. They also removed hundreds of bottles lying in the area. Renuka Shetty, Ganesh and Akshay and many others participated in the drive. Sadashiva Kamath coordinated the team.
390 Concluding Programme of Swacch Merlapadavu – The students of Srinivas Engineering College have been actively organizing Swacch Mangalore drive for the past ten months. The concluding programme was organized at Ramakrishna Mission. Swami Ekagamyanandaji addressed the volunteers and distributed the certificates to the students. Students’ representatives Sri Abhishek V S, Nallur Sachin Shetty, Jadiyappa, Chaithra and Anusha shared their experience. Umanath Kotekar thanked the students.
