Ramakrishna Mission holds 12th Shramadan of the 40 Weeks’ Swacchata Abhiyan

Mangaaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carried out 12th Week’s Swacchata Abhiyan drive around Nehru Circle in Pandeshwar area on Sunday, the 21st January 2018. Swami Raghuramanandaji of Bangalore Ramakrishna Math and Jaikumar Garg, MD of Corporation Bank jointly flagged off the Abhiyan in font of the IGP office and wished the programme. Swami Dharmavratanandaji of Ramakrishna Math, Gopal Murali Bhagat, ED of Corporation Bank and members of Swadeshi Seva team were present during the occasion.

Cleanliness: About 300 Volunteers of Swacch Mangalore team and employees of Corporation Bank Head Office were divided into about 10 teams. Sri Guru Harinath Rao, Sri S Kumar, Sri M N K Vishwanath, Lal General Managers of Corporation Bank led the team of volunteers in cleaning the area at Rosario road, the road leading to Head Post Office, S B Shetty Circle and the Road leading towards Pandeshwar. Some stepped into the drains and cleaned them and some cleaned the road dividers.

Special Work: A large wooden log had been lying on road in front of Forum Fiza mall for the past few years and was a nuisance to the pedestrians and motorists. Volunteers guided by Mehboob, Dinesh Karkera & others lifted the log with the help of JCB into a tipper and cleaned the area. Souraj Mangalore, Kavya Kodikal & other members of Hindu Warriors removed the posters stuck to the compound walls of Service Bus stand. They also cleaned the foul smelling area which was used for urination etc by the drivers and conductors with the help of Water tanker and created awareness among the drivers and conductors about hygiene and proper usage of toilets.

Distribution of Awareness Handbills: Sathyanarayana KV, Officers of Corporation Bank and students of Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe High school visited hundreds of homes & shops in Pandeshwar and Old Kent Road area distributing awareness handbills and urged them to keep their surroundings clean.

Continued Work: During the previous drives the area in front of Taluk Panchayat was thoroughly cleaned and the compound walls were also cleaned. This time a team of volunteers painted them giving a much needed facelift.

Sathoo and A N Ravishankar, both DGMs of Corporation bank coordinated the drive. Dr Satish Rao, Dr Shashikiran, Balakrishna Bhat and some Japanese citizens too actively participated in the drive. All the volunteers were given tiffin in the premises of Corporation Bank Head Office.

Swacch Grama: In nearly 30 villages, Swacch Gram Abhiyan were carried out under the guidance and assistance of Ramakrishna Mission & DK Zilla Panchayat. Till date, about 170 drives have been carried out in Mangalore & Bantwala Taluks.

Swacch Manas: About 11000 students of nearly 108 schools in and around Mangalore have been undergoing Swacch Manas Awareness training activity. In the month of January “Swacchata Diwas” was carried out by nearly 60 resource persons in these schools. Till date, about 7800 students have participated. They have been involved in the cleanliness drives in and around their campus, and talks about awareness about segregation of garbage and hygiene have been conducted in these schools. MRPL is sponsoring this drive.

Where is Mr.Lobo? Where is the ‘journalist’ who shamelessly sang praises for Lobo? How come ‘journalist’ doesn’t ask Congress leader for his utter failure to keep city clean? Pathetic.
