Ramakrishna Mission Holds Special Programme ‘Swacchata Darshana’

Mangaluru: A special Shramadan was organized on the last Sunday of 4th phase of Swacchata Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission in Marnamikatta & Mangaladevi areas. Many volunteers participated in the Shramadan from 7:30 am to 10:00 am on 22nd July. They cleaned the area around Marnamikatta Railway Bridge, concrete bin and surrounding areas. They removed the cement dustbin and the unused small shop lying next to it. The land was levelled using JCB and flower saplings were placed in pots in the area to prevent people from littering the spot. Volunteers also cleaned the Mangaladevi car street and visited houses door to door creating awareness among the residents. Chandrakanth Kulkarni of Pune, Suresh Shetty, Kamalakasha Pai, Vittaldas Prabhu, Aniruddh Nayak & many others actively participated in the drive. All the volunteers were provided with tiffin after the Abhiyan.
Swacchata Darshana a special programme of Swacch Manas and the last in the series of programmes was conducted in 100 high schools. The change that was brought about in the students by series of programmes conducted in various schools under Swacch Manas, their feedback and creative thinking were tested by asking them to write a small test for hundred marks. More than 10,000 students have participated in these exams. About 60 resource persons addressed these students before handing over the papers and gave them orientation as to the significance of their feedback etc. Their papers are being evaluated and best performers will be awarded in the near future. Ranjan Bellarpady coordinated these programmes with the assistance of Guruprasad & Kanchana.
After an appeal from the school administration as also considering the need to provide clean drinking water to all students as part of Swachata Abhiyan, about 10 Drinking water units were installed in 10 different schools. Under this initiative, such units were installed in Govt. High school at Car Street, Balmatta, Madani High school, Ullal, Govt. Higher Primary School, Vamanjoor, Swami Sadananda Saraswati High school, Nanthur Padavu, Govt. High school, Moodushedde, Bhagini Samaja, Jeppu, Higher Primary School, Badriya Nagar, Mallur etc. In near future, such units will be installed in some more schools and selected Village Panchayats. Sachin Shetty Nallur & Abhishek V S coordinated this programme.
To create awareness among the students a special Magic Show Programme has been organized in 100 selected schools. Named as “Magic for Cleanliness”, Till date shows have been conducted in 56 schools by world-renowned magician Kudroli Ganesh & group since last 40 days. Students are not only entertained by these shows but are also being educated about cleanliness and their role in ensuring a clean India. Navneeth Shetty coordinated the shows.
