Ramakrishna Mission’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan Completes 202 of 400 Abhiyans
Mangaluru: Seventeenth week of 10 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, the 29th January at 10 different locations in and around the city.
193 Car Street – The devotees of Sri Gokarna Math and residents of Sri Venkataramana Towers carried out the cleanliness drive in Bhavanthi Street and Nandadeepa Street. Chandramathi Rao and Sudhakar Pai jointly flagged off the drive. The compound walls in Nandadeepa Road were cleaned along with the road and the adjoining drains. S P Acharya, Anil Nayak, Purushottam Shenoy and more than 60 members actively participated in the drive. Captain Ganesh Karnik, Mentor of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan visited more than 6 places where the drives were carried out and motivated the volunteers.
194 Yemmekere – Members of Monkey Stand group took up the drive in Yemmekere area. Suvith flagged off the drive. The volunteers cleaned the Yemmekere main road and Mangaladevi temple roads. They removed the posters stuck on the walls. The students from GFGC, Car Street participated in the drive. Dilraj Alva coordinated the volunteers.
195 Chilimbi – The Inmates of BCM Women’s Hostel took up the drive in Chilimbi area. Chandrashekar Kadri flagged off the drive. The students cleaned the road leading from Chilimbi to Urwa Stores along with the road divider. They also cleaned both sides of the road and the bus shelter in that area. Subraya Nayak and Vittaldas Prabhu coordinated the team.
196 Mulihithlu – Members of Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir carried out the drive in Mulihithlu area. U Madhava and Naveen Poojary flagged off the drive. They resumed the work of converting a garbage dumping place to a small garden in the Tailery road. Taking the help of masons they are also constructing a small platform. Some volunteers under the guidance of Jayanthi Kamalaksha and Akhila paid door to door visit in the area and created awareness about garbage disposal.
197 Babugudde – Members of Team Inspiration and Amrita Sanjeevini carried out the drive in Babugudde area. SI of Bunder police station Madan flagged off the drive. One team cleaned the Nandigudda – Attavar Road and the other took up cleanliness work on Babugudda – Attavar road. Sahil and others cleaned the bus shelter in the area and gave it a facelift by painting and beautifying. Madan himself was actively involved in the drive and was seen inspiring other volunteers in the team.
198 Pandeshwara – The employees of Sriram Transport Finance cleaned the area in front of the Fire station and the roads in front of the Telephone exchange. K V Sathyanarayana flagged off the drive. They removed the garbage lying by the side of the road with the help of a tipper and cleared the adjoining drains.
199 Merlapadav – The students of Srinivas Institute of Technology and local residents took up the cleanliness drive in Merlapadav. Prof. Harshavardhan and Local Industrialist Jayaram flagged off the drive. The drive was carried out from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. Naveen Kottari, Sachin, Jagadish and more than 60 volunteers actively participated in the drive.
200 Kumpala – The members of Swacch Kotekar team along with the members of Navachetana Friends Club took up the drive in Kumpala area. Nagesh A and S S Nayak flagged off the drive in Kumpala Bypass road. Rajesh Uchil, President of Someshwar Village Panchayat guided the volunteers in cleaning the area from bypass through the roads of Kumpala along with the adjoining drains. Mohan Pai Kumpala, B N Tailer, Balakrishna Poojary and several others – women and children also actively participated in the drive.
201 Attavara – The members of Sri Chakrapani temple committee and the locals carried out the drive in Attavar area. Devadas Kottari and Rajesh Attavar flagged off the drive. The silt accumulated in the Chakrapani temple lake was cleared using the JCB. The area in front of the Attavar KMC was also cleaned. Akshith coordinated the team.
202 Yekkur – Hindu Yuva Sene and Nandadeepa Mahila Mandali members took up the cleanliness drive in Yekkur area. Sandeep Shetty and Tejaswini flagged off the drive. Yekkur 1st road was cleaned. Thanuja, Vanitha, Renuka Shetty, Praveen Yekkur and others actively participated in the drive.
