Ramanath Rai most Depressed Minister in Karnataka – DVS

Mangaluru: “From some days there are untoward incidents taking place in our district which have sent a wrong message to the world. The ruling party operates in whatever they like because of which the entire District is affected. The attitude of the ruling party is creating problems for the people of the district. The District Minister in-charge Ramanath Rai is the most Depressed Minister in Karnataka”, said the Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda in a press meet held at the BJP office here on July 11.

Addressing the mediapersons Sadananda Gowda said, “In the entire district except for Ullal and Bantwal the situation is normal but from the past 47 days section 144 has been imposed. The district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai and Minister U T Khader are playing dirty politics in the district by pleasing a particular community for vote bank. If a police officer does his job honestly with transparency he will be transferred from the district. Whatever communal disturbances have taken place in the district Ramanath Rai is directly responsible.

Sadananda Gowda further said, “For vote bank, the opposition is pleasing a particular community. On July 7, Chief Minister had visited Mangaluru he did not hold any review meeting. Ramanath Rai has challenged me to contest against him but I am confident to win the elections. I take this as a challenge and will place a booth level  party worker to contest against Rai.”

Sadananda Gowda also said, “When Ashraf’s body was taken in a procession, mourners were standing on the police jeep and shouting but no one was booked by the police. When Sharath’s mortal remains were taken in a procession, there was stone pelting and the police have filed cases under section 307 on the innocent Hindus. For vote bank, the Congress is discriminating the Hindu Community.”

“I have visited Sharath’s family in Bantwal today and met the parents of Sharath. Sharath’s father said, “Romansh Rai was sending his clothes for laundry but after my son’s death he has not come to meet me”. Even CM Siddaramaiah was in town but he did not visit Sharath in the hospital nor did he visit his house. Siddaramaiah is not fit to be the Chief Minister of this state. Section 144 has been imposed in Sullia and Puttur and people are facing problems. I request the district administration to revoke section 144,” said DVS.

Sadananda Gowda also said, “So far the culprits in the murder of Sharath have not been arrested but attempts are on to arrest Hindu leaders who were leading the procession carrying Sharath’s mortal remains. Even during the night, police are searching for innocent Hindu leaders without a search warrant and harassing the family members. I will not interfere in the law and order situation in the district because it is a state issue. But I will discuss all these issues in the cabinet meeting which will be held in Delhi tomorrow.”

When questioned, despite Section 144 why did the BJP and Sangh Parivar held the protest? Sadananda Gowda said, “Everyone has the right to protest for their rights. When the organisers had fixed the date of protest thrice, Section 144 was extended. Without any other option, the organizers staged the protest in Bantwal.”

District BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor, Sunil Kumar, Nagaraj Shetty, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandary, Yogish Bhat, Padmanabh Kottari, Sanjay Prabhu, Kishore Rai and others were also present.
