Ramya’s Statement on Pakistan for Publicity – Ganesh Karnik
Mangaluru: The BJP staged a state-wide protest against the Amnesty International and Ramya’s Statement on Pakistan. They demanded the arrest of those who shouted anti-India slogans, in front of the DC office here on August 24.
Addressing the protesters, Monappa Bhandary said, “On August 13, a programme “Broken Families” was held at the Amnesty International where some of the Amnesty staff shouted Anti-India slogans. We are here to protest against the Amnesty staff who shouted anti-India slogans. There is a human rights violation, we demand the staff who shouted anti-India slogans to be arrested. The case should be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
He also said that the ABVP students who staged a protest against Amnesty were lathi-charged by the police. Instead of taking action against the traitors for their anti-India slogans, the state government with the help of the police have beaten up ABVP students. We condemn such acts and demand the immediate arrest of the Amnesty staff.
Lambasting Ramya’s statement “Pakistan is not hell. People there are just like us. They treated us very well”, Bhandary said, we demand Ramya to apologise with the people of the state for her comment praising Pakistan.
MLC Ganesh Karnik addressing the protesters said, The Congress government is a failure. Ramya being a former Congress MP should have supported the soldiers who have dedicated their lives to the country. Instead, she has praised Pakistan for the treatment she has received during her stay there for a few days. Some people are publicity mongers, to be in the news they stoop to any level. Ramya has also done the same for publicity. Since she doesn’t get any importance in her own country, to attract attention, she has given such a statement”.
Karnik demanded the state government, to take action against Ramya and file a case against her. Karnik also said that whoever has shouted anti-India slogans at the Amnesty International should be arrested immediately and strict action should be taken against them.
