Rape Accused Flings Footwear at Special Prosecutor in Udupi Court Hall
Udupi: In a shocking incident a man accused of rape flung his footwear at a special prosecutor in-front of the Judge at the district and sessions court Udupi here on Thursday, March 12. A case has been registered in the Udupi town station against the accused.
According to the police Prashanth Kulal (32), who is under trial in POCSO case, flung his footwear at the special prosecutor Vasu Poojary in-front of the district and sessions Judge, while the court was in session.
In 2015 in Koteshwar under Kundapur Police Station limits while a 15-year-old girl was returning home, the accused Prashath offered to drop her to her house on his bike but instead took her to his relative’s house and raped her.
In this connection, a case was registered against Prashath Kulal in the Kundpaur Police Station. The CPI of Kundapur, Divakar submitted the Charge sheet to the court. The court inquired 15 witnesses after which District Judge Venkatesh Naik pronounced life imprisonment and Rs 25000 penalty for the accused.
Before pronouncing the judgement special prosecutor Vasu Poojary demanded the court to give maximum punishment to the accused. Angered by it, the accused removed his footwear and flung it at Vasu Poojary. The footwear missed its target and fell to the ground.
The special prosecutor demanded the police to consider the case seriously and asked for security. The District Judge instructed the SP to provide special protection to special prosecutor Vasu Poojary.
