Rashtriya Kristha Vedike donates Rs 10,000 to Railway Employee
Mangaluru: A railway gate signal staff’s job is not quite hectic but seems like it’s risky and danger too. Here is an example as to what happened to Tulasidas U, working with Southern Railway as Gate Signalman. Three days ago, while he was in-charge of the railway gate crossing near the Nethravathi Bridge near Mangaluru, he was robbed by a gang of miscreants. Usually, Tulasidas says that he hardly carries much money in his pocket, and on this day, he had Rs 8000 in his pocket which he brought to be given to his parents for their medical expenses. But unfortunately, he had the bad luck- a gang assaulted him and stole the cash from him and fled away.
When this news was published in various media publications, the founder of Rashtriya Kristha Vedike-Franklin Monteiro felt pity for Tulasidas and wanted to help him. Consulting with other members of the Vedike, they all decided to help Tulasidas with the money that he lost, by donating him more money than what he lost. On Friday, 19 May 2017, the Vedike members assembled at Mangalore central Station for a small cheque handing over program, where a cheque for Rs 10,000 was presented to Tulasidas by Fr Elias D’souza- Director of Infant Jesus Shrine- Bikkarnakatte- who was also joined by Franklin Monteiro, Amrithlal Joyce D’Souza-the member of the Vedike, Oswald D’Cunha and Anil Jose- active leaders of the Vedike.
The Vedike did put a smile on Tulasidas face and receiving the amount he conveyed his heartfelt thanks on behalf of his parents to the Vedike so that now they can utilize the money for their needed medical expenses. Speaking on the occasion, fr Elias said, ” It was indeed a kind gesture of Franklin and other members of the Rashtriya Kristha Vedike to think about Tulasidas and help him out with the money that was robbed from him by miscreants. In Bible, it says Doing for Others is Doing for Christ. According Matthew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” The Vedike has done a marvelous job in helping a person in need. Others should also follow in the footsteps of the Vedike in helping others in need”.
Also speaking to Team Mangalorean- Unnikrishnan, a Senior Section Engineer with Southern Railway said, ” Tulasidas is a very hard working person, very dedicated and respects his seniors. He is always punctual at work and has pleased his bosses with his duties. It was unfortunate that he got robbed on that day, but luckily nothing happened to his life. It was really a kind gesture of the Vedike to think about Tulasidas and help him out during his hard times. On behalf of the railways, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Vedike “.
