Rashtriyavadi Kraistara Vedike remembers martyrs of Mumbai Terror Attack

Mangaluru: The Rashtriyavadi Kraistara Vedike held a memorial service for the 164 souls martyred in the Mumbai terror attack Nine years ago, at the Kadri war memorial here on November 26.

The president of RKV Franklin Monteiro welcomed the gathering and said that nine years ago we lost 164 people including police officers, soldiers and the general public in the Mumbai terror attack. On November 26, 2008, Pakistani terrorists entered Mumbai and carried out a series of attacks in the city. To deal with the terrorists, the Mumbai police got into action immediately. When the police were unable to handle the situation the government asked the help of the commandos and the commando operation was launched on November 27 led by Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan from Bengaluru. Unfortunately, during the operation, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was shot in his arm and succumbed to injuries. Today we remember all the Bravehearts who lost their lives.

Col N Sharath speaking on the occasion said, “We remember November 26 as the deadly attack day on Mumbai city. This is a good awareness programme to remember the great souls who lost their lives in the Mumbai terror attack. Nine years ago, terrorists entered Mumbai with weapons and carried out deadly attacks in the city. The series of attacks lasted for over 3 days, killing around 164 people. One of our braveheart Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan also sacrificed his life during the rescue operations. It is a patriotic deed to remember the martyrs. I would like to thank the organizers for remembering the great souls on this day for their sacrifice.”
