Rashtriyavadi Kristhara Vedike donates 30K for Muslim Girl’s Wedding Expenses
Mangaluru: Irrespective of Caste, Creed, and Religion -Rashtriyaadi Kristhara Vedike (RKV) has been doing lots of community services helping the needy, and those who are in need of financial aid for a good cause. And here is yet another story how the Vedike came forward in helping a 21-year-old Muslim girl named Safreena Sali, with funds towards her wedding expenses. Her wedding is scheduled for this Sunday, 23 July at her residence, ‘Wahab Manzil” in Bengare Kasba, in the outskirts of Mangaluru.
Safreena’s father-Mohammed Sali has been on wheel-chair for the last ten years, after he had a freak accident while loading a truck at a logistic firm. While he was loading items, the heavy load of merchandise fell on him, and he was paralyzed for most part of his body. Married to Hasma, he has two daughters- Safreena and Shakira, aged 19. The trucking company where Mohammed was employed, used to haul goods to Kulyadikar’s Silks shop in Mangaluru. After the tragic accident of Mohammed, he couldn’t work anymore, so the management of Kulyadikar’s have been supporting him, now and then.
Recently during Ramzan time , when Mohammed, his wife and daughters had been to Kulyadikar’s to purchase dress materials for Safreena’s wedding ceremony, Kulyadikar’s owner and his family were kind enough to donate bunch of dress materials to Safreena, to be worn on her wedding day. During that time, Franklin Monteiro-the founder president of RKV who came to know about the kind gesture of the Kulyadikar family, also wanted to help Safreena in her wedding expenses. He communicated with the members of his Vedike and also collected funds from well-wishers, and was able to collect Rs 30,000. On 19 July, the amount of Rs 30,000 in the form of cash and cheques was handed over to Safreena at her residence by guests of honor of the occasion.
Hassan B, the uncle of Safreena welcomed the gathering, followed by brief introduction of the Vedike by Franklin Monteiro, where he said that his intention of forming this Forum was to help those in need irrespective of caste, creed and religion- and that they believe in one God, one religion. Fr Alban Rodrigues -the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church- Kasba Bengre (Tannirbhavi) addressing the gathering said, ” In Bible, it is said that Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. The motto of RKV is very appropriate to help those in need irrespective of caste and religion. We would not see any communal disharmony in the community if we all live in peace and with mutual understanding. And today’s project undertaken by RKV shows that they don’t discriminate between any communities”.
MCC Corporator Prathiba Kulai also addressing the gathering said, ” When Franklin Monteiro invited me to be one of the guests for today’s programme, I readily agreed, no matter which party we both belonged to. In community projects like this one, we should not think of politics, instead, involve ourselves for the good cause. KRV is doing a good job in helping people in distress, like Safreen’s family. If Safreena’s family needs any help from MCC, I will surely oblige. On behalf of everyone here let me wish Safreena a happy wedded life in advance”.
Nasir Kawshar and Haris Yamani from the nearby Mosque and Naveen- convener of the Tannirbhavi Fishermen’s Cell also graced the occasion.
Intention and gesture is highly commendable.
However, I knoweth not why I remembered Matthew 6:3
But you, doing acts of charity, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing
Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing !!! these phrases are no more respected as all the intentions are commercialized including Education !!
