Rationing System Revised Again, Water Supply Will Begin a Day Early
Mangaluru: An announcement from the Mangaluru City Corporation states that the water supply cycle will be extended by a day. This means that the MCC will commence water supply from June 8 itself, and not from June 9 as per the earlier schedule.
Therefore, the water schedule will witness pumping of water from 6 am on June 8 to 6 am on June 12. Even though the water cut-off period originally ended on June 8, due to surplus of water, the district administration has shortened the cut off period to June 7.
As a result of large parts of the coastal district witnessing rainfall on Wednesday evening, the water level at the Thumbe Dam has also gone up by 0.12m i.e. from 2.22 m to 2.34m.
With the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) predicting the south-west monsoon to make landfall in Kerala within the next 48 hours, district officials hope that the ongoing water scarcity will be quickly resolved.
