Record-breaking Konkani Film to take Kuwait by Storm

Kuwait: Goan Cultural Centre will host the screening of Goa’s record-breaking Konkani film ‘Nachom-iaKumpasar’ (Lets Dance to the Rhythm) in Kuwait on 29thand 30thMay 2015 at the American International School, Maidan-Hawally.

The film holds a strong cast and extraordinary performances with Vijay Maurya and Palomi Ghosh playing the lead roles. Palomi Gosh,a Bengali actress based in Mumbai, enchants as a Goan despite her non-Goan heritage. Palomi even has two songs in the film—’Tuzomog’ and ‘Adeus’.
The film which was shot over two years beginning from 2012celebrates Goan music through the struggle and triumphs of legendary musicians of the 1960s and 1970s. Based on the musicians’ life, many consider the film as a real-life account of Goa’s nightingale Lorna and legendary singer Chris Perry.

The film premiered at Qatar in November 2014 and subsequently released in Goa is still running to packed houses in Goa.Since its launch, the film has earned a large amount of support and praise, and has won 2 awards for Best Konkani Film and Best Production Design at the 62nd National Film Awards, Delhi, while Palomi Ghosh received a special mention for acting as well.
There are 20 timeless Konkani songs intertwined in the story.Goan singer Cielda Pereira is credited with the vocals for most of the songs in the film.

Angelo Braganza of Goa Folklore Productions has produced the film that has nearly 100 other co-produces, mostly of Goan origin,who raised funds to make the film.Bardroy Barretto, an ad film maker, has directed along with Ronnie Monserrate. Jackson Pereira is in-charge of the musical score.

The cast includes Goan actors and actresses namely Comedian Netto, Prince Jacob, John D’Silva, Samy Braganza, Comedian Kenny, Selwyn Braganza, Roy Menezes, Abdonio, MeenaLeitao, Mathew Araujo, Meenakshi Martins, Roque Lazarus, etc.

Indians in Kuwait will see one of their own, well-known Mr.Carmo Santos, who has a starring role and is one of the co-producers of the film too.

With a smaller budget compared to Bollywood movies, ‘Nachom-iaKumpasar’ stresses on its many strong points like – great sound tracks and a captivating story. With many positive reviews, the film has so far met with resounding success.
