Recoveries outnumber new Covid cases in Karnataka
Bengaluru: Reversing the trend, recovery of 7,064 patients outnumbered 7,051 new Covid cases across Karnataka till Sunday, giving respite to the state health authority.
“A total of 5,22,846 patients have been discharged till date, with 7,064 on Sunday, while 7,051 fresh cases increased the state’s Covid tally to 6,47,712 so far, including 1,15,477 active cases,” said the state health bulletin on Monday.
In all, 84 patients succumbed to the infection during the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 9,370 since the pandemic broke on March 8.
Accounting for over 40 per cent of the state’s cases, Bengaluru registered 2,189 fresh cases, taking its Covid tally to 2,52,229, including 54,112 active cases, while 1,95,015 recovered so far, with 2,972 discharged on Sunday.
Of the 841 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs) across the state hospitals, 299 are in Bengaluru Urban district, 93 in Dharwad, 80 in Ballari, 54 in Hassan and 37 in Kalaburagi.
Of the 67,303 tests conducted on Sunday, 41,553 were through RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) and 25,770 through rapid antigen detection.
Of the new cases in the districts, Mysuru reported 910, Hassan 537, Tumkuru 294, Chitradurga 276, Dakshina Kannada 245 and Mandya 227.
Among the districts where patients were discharged, Mysuru recorded 427, Mandya 327, Dakshina Kannada 261, Belagavi 247, Hassan 245, Ballari 233 and Tumkuru 209.
