Reduce Petrol Rate to Rs 60, Diesel Rs 45, Gas Rs 400 or Resign from PM Post – Ivan During Bharat Bandh

Mangaluru: More than 28 organizations gathered at the Hampankatta circle to protest against the hike in fuel price on September 10.

The protesters marched in a procession pushing their vehicles and carrying firewood and gas cylinder from the Hampankatta signal circle culminating in front of the DC Office. Protesters shouted anti-Modi slogans against the hike in fuel price.

Addressing the protesters MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “It is history that in such a large number women, students, seniors, vehicle owners and members of various organizations gathered here. I would like to thank everyone present because it is not easy to bring awareness on the failure of the NDA government. We all know that the hike in fuel price has affected the common man. When Modi came to power he had said, “Don’t call me the prime minister but call me as your watchman. I am going to be the watchman of this country. Today the watchman become the shareholder. Modi promised to bring Acche Din but from the last four years, we are waiting for the Acche Din. Modi had said, one nation one tax but where is one tax? Modi is listening to the corporate world and fixing the rates based on the advice of Ambani, Tata, Birla, Adani and Reliance. We now have a corporate world government”.

Ivan further said, “There is a financial emergency now, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha says that if Petrol and Diesel are included under the GST we can reduce Rs 26 in the price of Petrol. Yashwant Sinha is asking “Why the Congress is not raising its voice against the hike in the price of fuel?” Seventeen MPs from Karnataka are representing us but what they are doing? The BJP government says “Beti Bachao Beti Padavo”, but in the BJP ruled states many girls have been raped. “Modi you our Prime minister and we respect you. But what is your contribution to the 130 crore people of this country? We demand you to reduce the price of petrol to Rs 60, Diesel to Rs 45 and Gas to Rs 400, if you cannot do that resign from your post, get down. Modi Chale Javo. You said you are a chaiwala but today one chai costs Rs 25. Auto drivers are demanding to increase the minimum fare and the KSRTC is demanding to increase the ticket fare. Because of the NDA government students are not getting the bus pass.”

Dayanath Kotian and Mohammed Kunhi also spoke on the occasion.
