Renovated Siddiq-E-Akbar Jamia Masjid Udyavar opens for Public

Udupi: The renovated Siddiq-E-Akbar Jamia Masjid, located at Udyavar was inaugurated on Friday, April 7.

The formal inauguration of the Mosque was done before the Jumma Namaz at the Masjid by Maulana Ubedullah Dadwi, Founder Zia Educational Trust Kandlur, Kundapur.

The stage programme was held at the Halima Sabju Auditorium in the Evening. The programme began with the recitation of the Quran. Halik Hyder welcomed the gathering.

In his Keynote address Maulana Ubedullah Dadwi, Founder Zia Educational Trust Kandlur, Kundapur said that the Mosque is generally a very symbolic place for a Muslim, it is a place for Muslims to recreate pure divine presence on earth. The primary purpose of the Mosque is to serve as a place where Muslims can come together for prayer. A mosque brings the community together as it acts in many ways like, a social centre, a community centre, educational centre etc as there are many events for which it welcomes the old and new members of the mosque.

Muslims need Mosques for collective prayers. Of course, a Muslim can pray at home where he can live a comfortable Islamic life with his family, but his home cannot be a mosque. However, we must remember that Islam is a religion to be practiced collectively, therefore, all good things if they are done together has a greater reward than doing the same things alone. Never in the Holy Quran does Allah address Muslims as a believer but, always as believers. Mosques teach the lesson of equality. There should not be any difference between the poor and the rich, as all are equal in front Allah. We must be united in our efforts to achieve higher goals and success. Education for the Muslim community is a must, and all should join hands to build a better future, he added.

Speaking on the occasion Dinakar Babu president of Udupi Zilla Panchayat said that Udyavar is known for communal harmony. People of all religions are living here as brothers and sisters. The renovated Mosque has added charm to the city. Let God bless all of us to live in peace and harmony by helping others, he added.
