Republic Day celebrated with fervor at Alva’s Moodbidri

Moodbidri: The Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to honour the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. To triumph this day in meaningful and colorful note, Alva’s Education Foundation organized Republic day festivity at the Vanajakshi K Shripathi Bhat amphitheater, on Friday, at Puthige.

Patriotic fervor pervaded the atmosphere as students, decked in colours of the National Flag, lined up at the venue with miniature flags in hand. From every corner of the venue was graced with the vibrancy of enthusiasm and was bathed in the colors of saffron, white and green. Every face was a unique representative of patriotism and love towards the country.

The special attraction of the day’s festivity was the presence of ex-servicemen of the Indian Army who gathered to witness the proceedings with utmost pride and honour.

At the very outset, the march past by various NCC contingents of Army, Navy, Air Wing, Scouts and Guides, Rovers and Rangers from Bangalore, Madikeri, Udupi, Moodbidri marked the beginning with their swing and sharp uniforms displaying their crucial role in nation building in spectacular fashion. More than 1200 cadets with 198 armed, proved NCC’s synonymity with discipline, sheer dignity and command.

Students were dressed in T-shirts of the colors of the National Flag and were made to stand in such a way that an aerial view resembled ‘INDIA’ in textual form. The tricolors designed in cylindrical forms that stood 20 feet high and 6 feet wide marked the entire circumference of the grand, within which the crowd of 35000 saluted the Indian national flag. Flags, umbrellas, caps and t-shirts bearing the tricolors were waved during the rendition of the integration song, ‘Koti Kantose’.

After unfurling the national flag, Dr Vinay Hegde, Chairman, Nitte Group of Institutions, expressing his astonishment said, “I am amazed by the type of discipline and the grand celebrations of the dreams of millions of Indians by the staff and students of Alva’s Education Foundation. This institution is a perfect example for people to emulate for all those who are supposed to be educated, cultured and disciplined’.

‘In these 69 years, many good things have happened. India is rapidly expanding in terms of industry and economy, but the moral values are going down. The most important thing is to develop a personality that the country will be proud of. The aim is to inculcate character and religious cordiality, without which our country cannot prosper’, he said. He signed off with high hopes of great professional success for India.

Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, Trustee Vivek Alva, and staff of various intuitions of AEF were present on the occasion.
