Retired Police Officer Drives Car in Wrong Direction, Injures Two
Mangaluru: Two persons have been injured after a retired police officer driving his car on the wrong direction crashed into a two-wheeler at Battagudde, Bejai on January 26 late night.
The injured have been identified as Nitesh Devadiga (26) and Yathish (35).
According to sources, on January 26 at around 11:30 pm, Yathish along with Nitesh were on their way home. When they reached near Battagudde, retired police officer Mitra Heraje who was driving his car in the wrong direction crashed into the two-wheeler. The rider and the pillion were both thrown to the road.
As soon as the incident occurred the public gathered and took the car driver to task for his attitude and driving in the wrong direction. Seeing the public losing patience, the car driver said that he was a retired police officer which again worsened the situation.
Before the situation was going out of control, the police intervened and pacified the crowd.
Both the injured were shifted to the A J Hospital. A case has been registered in the Mangaluru East Traffic police station.
