Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa Officially Inaugurates Kaup Taluk
Udupi: The state Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on February 14 officially inaugurated the new Kaup Taluk which was announced during the last budget.
The programme began with a Nadageethe, In-charge Thasildar Pradeep Kurdekar welcomed the gathering, while Kaup Divakar Shetty delivered the introductory remarks.
Addressing the gathering Kagodu Thimmappa said that today is a great day for the people of Kaup. Today we have officially inaugurated the Kaup Taluk. The chief minister had announced Fifty new Taluks during the state budget last year.
Applauding the achievements of Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister Kagodu said that Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake is always known as a pro-people MLA. We need more and more such representatives of the people in today’s society. He has put all his efforts in announcing Kaup as a Taluk and succeeded. The people of Kaup should continue to support Vinay Kumar Sorake in the coming days too, he added.
The state government has extended the last date for submitting applications for regularisation of houses built on the revenue land in rural areas. Regularisation of houses constructed on government land has been allowed under 94C and 94CC of Karnataka State Land Revenue Act for which the government had fixed December 21 as the deadline. It has also now been extended to February 27.
The ‘Hakku Patra’ would be given to all residents who have been staying in these houses for years.
Strict instructions have been issued to the village accountants and PDOs to regularise only houses which were built on revenue land as per the village map.
The Minister directed the revenue officials to take immediate steps to clear the long-pending ‘Bagar Hukum’ applications and issue title deeds to landless cultivators in small plots of government land occupied by them years back.
‘Bagar Hukum’ cultivators are farmers with no formal and documented ownership rights to government land they had occupied over the years.
The cultivators argue that they should be treated as a distinct category of land occupants with traditional rights of use to the land, he said.
Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake demanded the Revenue minister to sanction the Mini Vidhana Soudha Project as early as possible. He also demanded to form two sub-registrar offices in Shirva and Padubidiri for the convenience of the people.
Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, ZP CEO Shivananda Kapasi, Assistant commissioner Bhobalan, Fr Fardinand Gonsalves and others were present.
