Revenue Minister R Ashoka Inaugurates Mini Vidhana Soudha in Udupi
Udupi: State Revenue Minister R Ashoka inaugurated the Mini Vidhana Soudha at the Udupi Taluk Office premises, Bannanje here on January 8.
The programme began with the state anthem. The stage programme was inaugurated by state Home minister and also the Udupi district Minister In-charge Basavaraj Bommai by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering State Revenue Minister R Ashoka said that Rs 10 crores have been spent for building the Mini Vidhana Soudha in the Taluk Panchayat premises. The Taluk-level offices of the Revenue department and the PWD will operate from the Mini Vidhana Soudha.
The revenue department is the main department in the state. Keeping this in mind, we need to develop the infrastructure and the state government has taken all the measures to provide infrastructure to Udupi District.
The state government is embarking on a novel method to ensure that social security schemes were available to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps. The government will look into the Aadhaar number and income certificates to decide the eligibility of the beneficiaries. The initiative will help the poor to access welfare schemes without any hassles. The initiative will be launched as a pilot project in Udupi district. Later, the project will extend to other districts in a phased manner. In Udupi district, 30,000 beneficiaries have been identified. The government has set aside nearly Rs 7,000 crore for social security schemes. The initiative will not only eliminate middlemen menace but will help the government save Rs 1,000 crore.
Minister Ashoka also announced a separate Subdivision for Udupi Taluk on the occasion.
State housing Minister V Somanna, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, ZP presdient Dinakar Babu and others were present.
Earlier State Revenue Minister R Ashoka laid the foundation stone for the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Brahmavar at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.
