Revoke Suspension of Constable Within 24 hrs – Raghupathi Bhat
Udupi: The suspension order of police constable Prakash should be revoked and Malpe PSI should be suspended for misusing power said former MLA Raghupati Bhat. He was speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club here on March 10.
The security of women has become the core issue of concern after Pramod Madhwaraj has taken charge as the Minister in-charge district. The deputy commissioner was attacked and now it is the turn of police officials. The police officials of other districts who are serving in Udupi district have expressed their discontent over the system.
A police constable has been suspended for questioning an accused of eve teasing his wife, the police superintendent on the report received from the PSI Malpe has suspended the police constable which is condemnable. Kumar who works with Pramod Madhwaraj had eve teased police constable Prakash’s wife, the constable has been suspended for allegedly assaulting Kumar. The suspension is influenced by Pramod Madhwaraj. Police constable Prakash is innocent, other police who were present in the police station have assaulted Kumar for eve-teasing police constable Prakash’s wife.
Malpe PSI had taken Prakash along with him to report to CPI but he was taken to Raj Fish Mill and the worker of the fish mill in the presence of Pramod Madhwaraj’s wife had allegedly abused Prakash’s wife. Pramod Madhwaraj’s wife had asked Prakash to admit Kumar to the hospital on his own expense for which Prakash had agreed. The workers of Raj Fish Mill and others have asked Prakash to fall on Kumar’s feet and apologize. Pramod Madhwaraj is directly responsible for ruining the morale of the policemen.
Police officials can be suspended only if a criminal case is initiated against them, but in the case of Prakash, he is suspended even before a formal case has been registered. It clearly indicates that Pramod Madhwaraj is directly responsible for suspending Prakash. The District Superintendent of Police should revoke the suspension order of Prakash. The BJP district unit gives 24 hrs time to reinstate Prakash on duty otherwise severe protests will be held. A high-level inquiry should be initiated, he added.

In the evening BJP members staged a protest against Pramod Madhwaraj and demanded to revoke the suspension of Constable Prakash. The protesters also give a time bound of 24 hrs to reinstate Prakash on duty otherwise severe protests will be observed. After the protest the BJP leader submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police.
