Rider Injured While Highway Patrol Police Forcibly Stop Bike for Checking, Locals Protest

Udupi: The locals staged a protest against the Highway patrol police when a motorbike rider was injured when he fell while being stopped by the police to check the documents of vehicles at Thekkatte under the Kota Police Station limits on October 26.

According to sources the bike rider, Ullas was on his way to Kundapur from Thekkatte. Near Kannukere, when the Highway Patrol police forcibly tried to stop his motorbike, Ullas lost control of the motorbike and fell on the road. Seriously injured Ullas was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Koteshwear.

When the news spread, the public gathered on the NH and protested against the Highway Patrol police and demanded the senior police officials to visit the spot.

Jaishanker DySP Udupi visited the spot and assured the public that the department will hold impartial enquiry of the incident. After DySP Jaishanker gave the assurance, the public called off the protest.

Brahmavar CPI Ananthapadmanabha, Kota PSI Nithyananda Gowda and others were present.
