Right Bokka Left – Nadutu Kudonji? (Right and Left- and One in the Middle?) – Motorists get ready for more left and right turns, as City Traffic Police have barricaded couple of spots in the city for traffic entry, near KS Rao Road going towards Sharavu Temple; and also Hampankatta Road (opposite University College) for traffic coming from GHS rd and going towards State Bank/DC office. These sudden changes in traffic diversion by the traffic cops surprised many motorists which led them into confusion.

Mangaluru: “Right Bokka Left- Nadutu Kudonji”- I am taking about the Tulu film, but about the new traffic rules just implemented by the city traffic police, by erecting barricades at two prominent spots where traffic has been heavy during peak hours. Although the motorists in the city have been experiencing lot of hassles due to various traffic rules, added to those, now they have to travel a few extra distance to reach their destination-since the traffic cops have erected barricades on KS Rao Road (Near Excel Mischief Mall) and also on Hampankatta main road (near University College).

With the traffic cops placing these barricades on KS Rao road, motorists going on KS Rao towards Sharavu Temple, now will have to go a little further and ,make a U-turn in front of Hotel Poonja International, and then take a left turn to proceed towards Sharavu Temple or GHS Road. Similarly, with the barricades placed on Hampankatta road in front of University college, now motorists coming from GHS road going towards State Bank/DC office, will have to make a left turn in front of Hotel Pereira, proceed towards Syndicate Bank-Light House Hill road, make a U-turn there and come back to proceed towards State Bank. Just a pain in the ,,,,?

Due to the changes made on Hampankatta road, and also due to a long queue of buses/vehicles on this stretch has become a nuisance for motorists entering from GHS road into Hampankatta road- making a left turn when all these buses are lined up has become a hardship for many motorists. In the meantime, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Uday Nayak speaking to Mangalorean.com said, ” We know that motorists are not happy with these new traffic rules. But with the increase of vehicles in Mangaluru day by day, it has been hard to control the traffic situation by lack of police personnel, These changes have been made with an intention to avoid criss-cross movement of vehicles at the two junctions which was leading to traffic jams constantly. We have noticed that with these changes we are seeing a smooth flow of traffic on both K.S. Rao Road and on Hampankatta Road. Motorists will be frustrated for a while till they get used to these new changes. Nothing much we can do, other than find a way for a smooth flow of traffic”.
