Right Wing Groups to hold Day-long Hunger Strike to support ‘Go-Satyagraha’

Udupi: The Karnataka Rajya Go-Shalegala Okkoota will stage day-long hunger strike, at Krishna Math premises on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 26, 2017 to support the State-wide “Go Satyagraha” seeking a ban on cow slaughter, in the country and other demands related to cow.

Addressing the media persons at the press on Wednesday February 22, Balaji Raghavendra Acharya said that the Pejawar Swamiji, Anegundhi and Balekudru Math’s Swamiji and other Swamiji’s along with the general public will be participating in the “Go-Satyagraha”. This will be a peaceful agitation within the Constitutional framework. The Go Satyagraha is being backed by Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Hindu Jagran Vedike, Bajrang Dal, Go-Parivar and the Zilla Go Andolan Samiti.

The Go Satyagraha will demand the Union government to pass a stronger anti-cattle slaughter law. And urge the sate and district administration to take stringent action against cattle thieves. Cattle transporters who are cause for violence should be punished with five year imprisonment and Rs one lakh fine. The pastures should be reserved for cattle grazing. Pastures in the state must be surveyed and fenced and green grass should be grown for feeding cows, he said.

Their other demands include punishment for the guilty with imprisonment upto seven years and fines up to Rs 50,000. Uniform law across the nation on cow slaughter and seizure of vehicles involved in illegal transportation of cows are included in the list of demands.

Udupi district VHP president Vilas Nayak said, “The udupi district unit has extended its support for the bandh in Dakshina Kannada on February 25, opposing Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s participation in the ‘Karavali Sauharda’ rally in Mangaluru organised by the CPM’s district unit. A person who is from a political party whose hands are stained with blood of hundreds of innocent people in Kerala. We oppose the participation of Kerala chief minister in the rally. More than 3000 activists will participate in the rally organised by VHM Mangaluru”, he added.

There is no mention of BJP, no saffron colour etc. in this news article. Does that mean right wing groups are moving away from current central BJP administration? Is it due to the demonetisation effect? Many of the “Hazari Prasads” from the tenkapet/badagapet are upset with Modi-G.
