Mangaluru: All’s Well that Ends Well!-That’s right. Quoting Shakespeare’s words, “But with the word the time will bring on summer, When briers shall have leaves as well as thorns, All’s well that ends well; still the fine’s the crown; Whatever the course, the end is the renown “-all I can say is that the organizing committee members of St Aloysius PUC “Pre Unique 2018” two-day mega-fest did a marvelous job by organizing this Fest which was a sheer success, and the curtain came down to say “Adios” to the unique and prestigious “Fest” after a glittering valedictory function, held on Saturday, 10 November at the SAC campus.
The Vibrant, Colourful Intellectual and Cultural Mega Event organised by St Aloysius P U College, Mangalore, Pre unique 2018, themed- ‘Rise as One’ culminated in the evening of 10 November 2018 with a musical extravaganza comprising of a mash-up and exuberant performance by the alumni and Team Velocity. The event witnessed a participation of approximately 1500 students from 29 Colleges and 17 High schools. The gala event showcased spectacular talents and enchanted the spectators.
St Aloysius Institution has given ample opportunities to the students to take part in various co-curricular activities, sports, also in academics. The Institution has also given a chance to the students of other colleges to participate in various contests, thereby unleash their hidden talents and excel. And now by hosting ” PRE-UNIQUE 2018″ which was an extension of this tradition as the quest for talent spreading its wings and beckoning more talents from other Colleges and High schools. PRE UNIQUE 2018 challenged students with the theme “Rise As One”, during the 2-day mega-fest which started on 9 Nov. and culminated on 10 November… This annual cultural and intellectual fest comprised of various competitions for the students to challenge themselves with.
The Chief Guests, Indian Youth Congress President Mithun Rai and Asthik Avinash Shetty from the Tulu Film Industry enthralled the audience with their skillful oration. Mithun Rai, an alumnus of SAPUC attributed his success to the College and also urged the students to be united and Rise as One, while Asthik Shetty expressed that Pre-university education is a crucial period in every student’s life and motivated them to take the right decision and make right choices in life.
The Principal of SAPUC Fr Melwin Mendonca S J in his address appreciated all the participants, congratulated the winners and applauded the teamwork of Pre Unique staff and student conveners. He further added, ” Glad to note that a total of 17 High School Teams and 29 PU College teams participated in this mega event. This Fest has been a unique Fest to unleash the hidden talents of the students. In life we may face lots of hurdles-but it is our duty to overcome such hurdles and come out successfully- and you all did it. Failures are there in life, but you all strived hard to overcome them. You all deserve to be praised and honored for your hard work”.
In his Presidential address, The Finance Officer of SAPUC, Fr John Lang Bosco S J expressed that students should Rise As one, enkindle and nurture the fire of talent within them and live life meaningfully and responsibly. MS Aleen Crasta delivered the welcome address while MS Pramila Patrao and Ms Anasa the staff conveners proposed the vote of thanks. The student convener Ms Sneha compered the programme. Also on the dais were Ms Meural Furtado, the staff convener and student conveners Althaf Mohammed, Ms Suman Sanil and Calvin Pinto.
The valedictory function concluded with a Prize Distribution ceremony to the Winners of various events of High School and Pre University Category. The Overall Championship under High School category was bagged by St Theresa’s School, Mangaluru and in PU Category, Lourdes Central School was declared as the Overall Champions. The Runner-up in High School section was Sharada Vidyalaya and St Agnes P U College in the Pre University level. The Event coordinators were also felicitated during the occasion. The College applauded the Winners of all the events and congratulates the students for their active participation.
In conclusion, Pre Unique provided a platform for the students of High School and PUC to unleash their talents and excel in their co-curricular activities. Pre Unique was the intellectual and cultural fest which provided the students to perform on a big stage and grow in confidence and talent. This was a Fest that provided an opportunity to match their abilities with others on a competitive platform. The Fest brought together the rich cultural heritage of the country and helped to appreciate the diversity of our nation in order to build a strong India based on equality, fraternity, justice and liberty.
